Before you call an electrician, you might want to check a few things yourself. Most people know to check the panel for tripped breakers and to check their GFCI reset outlets. But many people don't know that GFCI outlets can control more than just the outlet that you see with the buttons. Several other outlets in your house are probably connected to a GFCI outlet. For example, you may have one GFCI reset outlet in one of your bathrooms, and not in the other bathrooms. The other bathrooms should be connected to the GFCI outlet with the reset button. The same is true for garage, basement and outdoor plugs. Two or more GCFI outlets should control all of your kitchen outlets. So if you have an plug that isn't working, check the breakers, then check the GFCI reset outlets in your home. Don't forget to check those hidden GFCI reset outlets that may be hidden behind furniture or behind a stack of boxes in the garage.
